If you’ve made our Air Fryer Frozen French Fries, you’ll know how good these would be! While they’re not even frozen, they’re fresh sweet potatoes, they are just as perfect.

We’ve been exploring so many recipes and can’t recommend enough checking out these Air Fryer Recipes. Get ready to be HOOKED on easy, crisp, TASTY and quick cooking!

My daughter happens to love sweet potato fries, and she was the reason we tested our a few recipes until we came out with this one. So be sure to watch the video as it’s super easy, and the step by step images below. She’s also the reason for our Hasselback Sweet Potatoes and Crunchy Sweet Potato Gratin 💛 Both MUST try recipes!

Why You’ll Love Air Fryer Sweet Potatoes

  • It has the perfect crisp texture as if it was fried, but it wasn’t!
  • The inside cooks so beautifully soft and tender.
  • The recipe takes less time than if you were cooking it in an oven.
  • Super easy cleanup and peace of mind compared to frying.
  • Ultra Satisfying and comforting 💛
  • These sweet potato fries are so TASTY flavored with a spice blend we LOVE (more on that below).
  • They can be crisped up the next day and taste just as fresh.
  • We serve with them with Garlic Parmesan Sauce, Spicy Mayo or Garlic Sauce — SO GOOD!

How to Make Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries

We’re going to break down this section into cutting the fries, and then cooking them.

How to Cut Sweet Potato Fries

  1. You’ll start with any type of sweet potatoes you have, however we prefer the longer the better. Just because they give use room for longer fries.

  2. Peel the sweet potatoes and trim the edges.

  3. Cut the sweet potatoes into half, and then cut each half into another half lengthwise. You should have thick slices about half an inch thick.

  4. Now you’re going to cut each of those thick slices into half an inch strips. You may leave the total length it cut it further in half.

  5. The fries can be as long as you prefer, and about half an inch in thickness. Remember they will shrink during cooking, so depending on your preference, choose the length you want.

Season the Sweet Potato Fries

A hand holding a dry spice blend in a plate with a teaspoon of chilli powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, oregano

  1. Now the fries are ready to be seasoned before air frying. A blend of chilli powder, garlic powder, oregano, salt and pepper, paprika, brown sugar and chilli flakes  is what we use. We also love a cajun seasoning blend.
Sweet potato fries in a large bowl tossed with olive oil and a seasoning blend before it goes into the air fryer.
  2. Toss the sweet potato fries and seasoning along with some olive oil (or any neutral oil) in a bowl. And they’re now ready to cook.

Air Fry The Sweet Potato Fries

The sweet potato fries are added into the basket of the air fryer and ready to cook

  1. The sweet potatoes now go into an air fryer basket and get ready to air fry at 400 degrees F for about 15-18 minutes. This depends on the thickness of your sweet potato fries, and your air fryer. Make sure you shake the fires halfway, or flip them if they’re bigger in size.

  2. They’re ready when crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Enjoy with some of our favorite dips like Spicy Mayo or Garlic Parmesan Sauce.

  3. Make sure to cut them evenly so that they cook evenly as well.
  4. Season your sweet potatoes and toss them in oil. This allows the seasoning to stick.

Reheat the same way in the air fryer adding 3 extra minutes.
