How to Make Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries
We’re going to break down this section into cutting the fries, and then cooking them.
How to Cut Sweet Potato Fries
- You’ll start with any type of sweet potatoes you have, however we prefer the longer the better. Just because they give use room for longer fries.
- Peel the sweet potatoes and trim the edges.
- Cut the sweet potatoes into half, and then cut each half into another half lengthwise. You should have thick slices about half an inch thick.
- Now you’re going to cut each of those thick slices into half an inch strips. You may leave the total length it cut it further in half.
- The fries can be as long as you prefer, and about half an inch in thickness. Remember they will shrink during cooking, so depending on your preference, choose the length you want.
Season the Sweet Potato Fries
- Now the fries are ready to be seasoned before air frying. A blend of chilli powder, garlic powder, oregano, salt and pepper, paprika, brown sugar and chilli flakes is what we use. We also love a cajun seasoning blend.
- Toss the sweet potato fries and seasoning along with some olive oil (or any neutral oil) in a bowl. And they’re now ready to cook.
Air Fry The Sweet Potato Fries
- The sweet potatoes now go into an air fryer basket and get ready to air fry at 400 degrees F for about 15-18 minutes. This depends on the thickness of your sweet potato fries, and your air fryer. Make sure you shake the fires halfway, or flip them if they’re bigger in size.
- They’re ready when crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Enjoy with some of our favorite dips like Spicy Mayo or Garlic Parmesan Sauce.

- Cut the sweet potatoes according to your taste to the size and thickness that you prefer.
- Make sure to cut them evenly so that they cook evenly as well.
- Season your sweet potatoes and toss them in oil. This allows the seasoning to stick.
- When air frying, make sure to shake the basket half way and check on them.
