February is super special not only because it’s the month of Valentine’s, but it’s also Lamb Lovers Month! So it’s like love is everywhere 🙂

A couple years ago, I shared with you guys my favorite Lamb Chops Date Night Platter with tips on making a romantic lamb dinner at home.

This year, I’m sharing a super easy, fun and convenient way to celebrate American lamb for Lamb lovers Month!

AIR FRYER LAMB CHOPS

I can’t help it, I had to make a video to show you that crisp! I’ve been experimenting much with the air fryer lately and I found out that many of you aren’t making the most of it!

YES, you can make succulent, crispy lamb chops in the air fryer in 12 minutes! I’ve made a video to show you that crisp! And I’ll share so many tips on perfecting them to the doneness you prefer.

For the record here, my daughter LOVES lamb so much and I always keep her in mind when cooking it. So I opt for medium rather than rare because of her. I’ll share more on that below.

Also will share below on the Air Fryer Potatoes and that charred Poblano sauce which are the perfect match to the lamb chops!

American Lamb Chops

I’m lucky to find so many local butchers around me who carry American Lamb. But when I’m driving far away and need to buy some lamb, I always ask the meat guy about the source of lamb.

They will most often have some cuts that are surely American lamb while other cuts may be imported. Always always ask before you buy.

You want to make sure to buy American lamb because it’s unlike any other type of lamb. The breed and the way American lamb is raised make a HUGE difference in the taste of lamb you’re eating.

American lamb is fresher than imported of course, but most importantly, it tastes buttery and sweet compared to other types of lamb. It’s because the lamb is raised to the highest standards possible.

And even more, it’s raised with LOVE. When you buy local, you support families, dreams, long hours of hard work and you support communities. It means the world to do that!

Now let’s break down the recipe.

A plate with seasoning spices including salt, pepper, chilli powder, oregano and onion powder

Lamb Chops Seasoning

Since this recipe has a bit of a Mexican flare from the poblano sauce, I’ve considered that in the spice mix.

  • Salt and Pepper
  • Chilli Powder
  • Onion Powder
  • Oregano

That’s it! When making air fryer lamb chops, you don’t want chunks of marinade like garlic bits or anything that would burn. So a blend of spices and oil like this one is ideal.

HOW TO MAKE AIR FRYER LAMB CHOPS

You’ll start by liberally seasoning the lamb chops on both sides and drizzling them with oil.

Lamb chops seasoned with the lamb seasoning and drizzled with oil

Have your air fryer preheating for 2 minutes before adding the lamb.

Arrange the chops in a single layer in your air fryer basket. You can crowd them as long as they’re still in a single layer.

Air fry for 8 minutes and then flip the chops.

Continue air frying for 4-6 minutes more depending on how well done you want the lamb chops to be.

Seriously a quick, fool proof and forgiving way to start making more lamb chops!!

POBLANO SAUCE

While the lamb chops are in the air fryer, you can quickly whip up the poblano sauce in your food processor.

Ingredients for the poblano sauce on a board including poblano peppers, avcoado, jalapeno, lime juice, olive oil, cilantro, honey and salt

Ingredients for Poblano Sauce

  • Charred Poblano Pepper (Char them under the broiler, grill or on a gas stove top. This is optional but the flavor is incredible!)
  • Cilantro
  • Lime Juice
  • Avocado
  • Salt
  • Olive Oil
  • Honey
  • Yogurt (or sour cream)

Charring the poblanos is an optional step here, but it seriously elevated the flavor! It adds that smokey charred flavor to the sauce which is amazing.

Add all those ingredients in a food processor until the sauce is formed! Simple and easy!

The honey adds a faint sweetness to balance the spice so don’t forget it. Also the yogurt adds a creamy touch to the sauce.

A spoon holding off a the poblano sauce in the food processor showing how smooth and creamy and ready the sauce is

You can use sour cream to make this into a creamy poblano sauce, and it will probably be thicker too. I use either, however today I had yogurt only.

Store the poblano sauce in a container in your fridge for up to a week. That also means you can prepare the sauce in advance 🙂

AIR FRYER POTATOES

The perfect pair to these air fryer lamb chops and poblano sauce is some crispy air fryer potatoes!

I love using small potatoes instead of cutting up large potatoes and making sure they’re the same size. It’s an extra step which you can skip by using small baby potatoes.

The one thing you want to make sure is that your potatoes are all approximately the same size.

A bowl with baby potatoes raw and a small plate of potato seasoning including, salt, pepper, chilli powder, garlic powder and chilli powder with olive oil

Air Fryer Potatoes Seasoning

Similarly to the lamb chops here, we don’t want bits of garlic or onions or herbs that can burn in the air fryer. I use just a dry spice mix and oil. It adds so much flavor and you won’t miss out!

  • Salt and pepper
  • garlic powder
  • oregano
  • chilli powder
  • neutral tasting oil

How to Make Air Fryer Potatoes

First of all you’ll season the potatoes in a large bowl.

Seasoned potatoes in a bowl ready to air fry

Then place the potatoes in your air fryer basket. Again, it’s very important to keep the potatoes in a single layer just like we did with the lamb chops.

Seasoned potatoes in a single layer int he air fryer basket ready to be air fried

Also important is to preheat the air fryer for two minutes before adding in the potatoes.

Air fry the potatoes for 10 minutes, remove the air fryer basket and give it a snake. Then air fry again or an extra 8-10 minutes depending on the size of your potatoes.

When they’re done, I love a finish of olive oil (really good quality olive oil so you can taste it) and a sprinkle of cilantro.

SERVE AIR FRYER LAMB CHOPS

Serve the air fryer lamb chops with the side of potatoes, poblano sauce, some lime slices, my grandpa’s hot pepper sauce (for extra spice!) and a sprinkle of cilantro!

Dip the lamb chops into that Poblano sauce—SO GOOD!!

Another fun way to serve lamb is with the pita cones in this lamb shoulder chunks in pita cones. This is a perfect individual serving, spiced up lamb chunks with all the fixings!

If you’re looking for a more romantic home cooked feel for the lamb this month, make this exotic Moroccan spice lamb shoulder with couscous. Or of course the lamb chops date night platter.

ENJOY!
