If you’re one of those people who can’t resist buying french fries on the go like we do, then THIS is what you need. I got you! Like seriously I’m one of those people who can never turn down some fries–anytime of day. And the idea of frying to get the perfect French Fries is discouraging to setup at home.

Baking fries has been a hit or miss. It depends heavily on the brand and how defrosted the frozen french fries are, among many other factors. Then came in my air fryer–OMG LIFE CHANGER! Air Fryer French Fries have taken over the world!

Other air fryer recipes that I can NOT live without would be: Air Fryer Pizza Rolls, Air Fryer Salmon, Air Fryer Chicken Legs, Air Fryer Baked Potato and more below. For now, let’s get back to fries 🙂

Air Fryer French Fries

There are so many ways to cook french fries, but if you’re looking for that perfect texture you crave and buy, then here’s the best way to cook them! We love Air fryer fries because:

  • They have the perfect crisp!
  • Golden outside
  • Perfect soft interior
  • Hot and fresh out of the air fryer
  • Cooks from frozen
  • Can be seasoned however you like!
  • Work with most of the brands for frozen fries.
  • Any shape or size of fries works just as good!
  • Healthier than frying
  • Better crisp and texture than baking
  • Takes 10-12 minutes (depending on the brand you use!)
  • Zero mess/clean up after!
  • SO GOOD!

Air Fryer Fries Ingredients

Ingredients for air fryer french fries, frozen french fries , salt and oil spray

Seriously this is not a recipe, but rather a how-to. The ingredient are as basic and minimal as can be:

  • Frozen French Fries: Use any thickness, shape of fries, any type of pre-seasoned or plain frozen fries, they all work. Depending on the size of your air fryer basket choose the right size bag, this is a 16 ounce bag.
  • Salt & Pepper: Salt to taste and pepper too. You can go for chilli flakes or french fries seasoning.
  • Oil spray: Use  Avocado oil, olive oil spray or your favorite. The oily adds another level of crisp and also helps the seasoning stick to the fries.

How To Cook Frozen French Fries in the Air Fryer

Frozen French Fries in an Air fryer basket

The humble store bought frozen fries, when cooked in the air fryer, become the most addictive snack and side to any meal! Imagine it with this Best NY Strip Steak–SO GOOD!

Here’s how to make the most awesome fries in three easy steps.

  1. Place all your fries in the basket of the air fryer. I prefer this type of air fryer over toaster style air fryers.
  2. Spray some oil over the frozen fries and season them with salt, pepper and any extra seasoning if you’re using. golden crisp and delicious french fries cooked in the air fryer
  3. Give them a shake to distribute the seasoning and oil.
  4. Air fry at 400 degrees for 10-12 minutes depending on the brand, size and thickness of your frozen french fries.A hand dipping some air fryer french fries in hot Sriracha sauce!
  5. Serve with your favorite dipping sauces, YUM!

Air Fryer Fries Tips:

  1. Check the size of your air fryer basket first before adding lots of fries–you want to keep space for the air to circulate during air frying.
  2. Any brand of frozen fries, any shape and any size would work–just adjust cooking time.
  3. Spray the fries and then season them so the flavors stick to the fries.
  4. You can also use pre-seasoned fries instead and skip the seasoning part.
  5. Don’t over fill your air fryer basket, you need room for shaking !
  6. We prefer basket type air fryers compared to toaster style ones.
  7. Make sure to shake your air fryer basket three times during air frying to make sure the heat is well distributed for even crisp.
  8. If you want extra crispy fries, you can spray them generously before air frying and add 1-2 minutes more of cooking time.

So easy, so quick, and the perfect side for grilled hamburgers or homemade chicken tenders. My home has many different fry preferences- so I really like that I can mix some sweet potato and crinkle cut fries together!
