Long Pin for Air fryer Pizza

This Air fryer Pizza will blow your mind! It’s such a quick and easy pizza recipe that you can customize and enjoy in less than 10 minutes with just a few tricks. We love Pizza here and we love air fryers so this new air fryer recipe is on repeat for us! Video below!

A hand holding a slice of perfectly cooked air fryer pizza

There’s been a Pizza overload happening lately on the website and on social media for us! So it all started because I got a few requests to make videos for both my homemade pizza crust recipes. I have a recipe for the best Pizza Dough Recipe and one for No Knead Pizza Dough.

And once you choose which dough works best for you (based on the type of crust you prefer), you can go commando with pizza recipes! I always say that when you’re making pizza at home, don’t do the takeout classics because takeout is certainly super convenient.

I rather prefer making homemade pizza that stands out like Caprese Pizza , Burrata Pizza, Pizza Bites, Mushroom Pizza and my no cook 2 minute Pizza Sauce for my kid’s Margherita Pizza. Another unique and unusual pizza I love which reminds me of my grandma and Turkey is Turkish Pizza (Lahmacun).

Birria Pizza is a phenomenal twist on our HIT recipe Birria Tacos, and Cacio e Pepe Pizza is a two ingredients magic combo of pecorino and black pepper on pizza!

Air Fryer Pizza

So why air fryer pizza? Well I shared a while ago these crowd pleasing Air Fryer Pizza Rolls which are made using mini buns and not a pizza dough. They are a HIT each time I serve them. They are literally the easiest and tastiest Pizza Rolls you’ll ever make!

Aside from those rolls, and aside from how much I love my air fryer and make so MANY Air Fryer Recipes – we’ve loved today’s air fryer pizza for many reasons.

  • It’s super convenient and doesn’t need a very hot oven or pizza stone/steel.
  • You can make it with any type of pizza dough (even store bought). I used my Pizza Dough Recipe.
  • The crust with pizza in the air fryer isn’t a rustic type crust, so it’s my kid’s favorite.
  • You can add any toppings you like and it cooks beautifully!
  • Cooking time is no more than 10 minutes total!
  • If the curst is ready or store bought then you’re going to have pizza in 10 minutes literally!

Ingredients for Air Fryer Pizza

Ingredients for air fryer pizza including pizza sauce, basil pesto, fresh basil, mozzarella cheese and pizza dough

I’m choosing to make a simple Margherita Pizza like recipe today so I’m going for the basics. You can however really use any toppings you like! Basic ingredients are:

  • Pizza Dough Recipe which yields soft and pillowy dough with a nice delicate crust. If you want a more rustic like pizza dough, then you should be using the No Knead Pizza Dough.

  • My no cook 2 minute Pizza Sauce which is a HIT –so tasty and so easy!
  • Basil Pesto because it’s packed with more flavor compared to using fresh or dried basil alone. You can use storebought, but my homemade guide to Basil Pesto is so easy to follow!
  • Mozzarella cheese. A pizza classic. You can add a combo of Parmesan and Mozzarella here, or any cheeses you like.

Make Pizza In Air Fryer

a raw pizza dough at the bottom of an air fryer basket

You’ll start by preheating the air fryer at 400 degrees for just 1-2 minutes.

Then you’ll be placing the pizza dough (or store bought) at the bottom of an air fryer basket. The dough needs to air fry for 3 minutes without any toppings. This will help cook the dough as it needs more time to cook compared to the toppings.

The pizza dough in the air fryer basket after air frying for just a few minutes and ready for the toppings

You can flip the dough or leave it as is to start piling up your toppings. If you see an air bubble in the dough, just price it with a fork or spatula and continue with the recipe.

Now it’s tome to start piling up the toppings. A spread of Pizza Sauce, some Basil Pesto or fresh basil, some sliced tomatoes and cheese.

The pizza will air fry now for 6-7 minutes (depending on the size of the pizza until the cheese has melted and the pizza has turned into a golden crips crust.

At that point the pizza is ready to slice and enjoy!

Air Fryer Pizza Tips

  • Use your favorite pizza dough–either you want a soft pizza with a delicate crust or a rustic pizza with a crunchier crust. I recommend using this Pizza Dough Recipe to make air fryer pizza.
  • Always cook the pizza dough without toppings for 3 minutes to ensure the dough cooks through after adding in the toppings.
  • If the dough forms an air bubble during air frying, simply poke it using a fork or spatula.
  • Layer the toppings (today we used this 2 minute delicious no cook Pizza Sauce, Basil Pesto and mozzarella cheese.)
  • Keep the same temperature and air fry after you add the toppings but keep an eye out on the pizza. It ay take between 6-8 minutes depending on the size and thickness of your pizza dough.
  • The pizza is ready when cheese has melted, toppings have softened and the crust has a golden brown color.
  • Carefully remove the pizza from the air fryer as it will be hot to the touch, so use tongs.
  • If you want a short cut, try these tasty Air Fryer Pizza Rolls.
  • slice and enjoy!

Reheat pizza in air fryer

Whether you’re making air fryer pizza, any other type of pizza or even take out, the BEST way to reheat pizza is in the air fryer. Take the leftover or cold slice of pizza and place in the air fryer basket. Select the reheat function and set it for 2-3 minutes.

If you don’t have a reheat function in your air fryer , then set the temperature to 325 degrees F and air fry for 3-4 minutes.

You’ll get a beautiful crisp on the crust, the cheese melts beautifully and the pizza tastes fresh as if it just came out of the oven or pizzeria.

Can I cook a pizza in an air fryer?

YES! This post covers it all–especially cooking pizza with a homemade dough from scratch and all the steps to follow for perfect Air fryer Pizza at home.

How long does it take to cook pizza in an air fryer?

The process start to finish is about 10 minutes which includes 3 minutes of air frying the crust alone and the remaining time air frying with the pizza toppings.

Is frozen pizza better in an air fryer?

Cooking and reheating pizza in an air fryer has a huge advantage of skipping the preheat time that an oven would usually require. So fresh or frozen, it’s easier, quicker and more convenient to use your air fryer.
