This Strawberry Mojito is fizzy, sweet, minty, tangy and bursting with strawberries! Mojitos are summer’s favorite drink, we make them on repeat, our Blackberry Mojito is A Virgin Mojito Recipe, and it’s another must try mojito recipe! Here’s a quick step by step and video for it.
With the warm weather now, we’re all looking for refreshing drinks and light meals. Some of our favorite Strawberry Recipes are gathered here since it’s seasonal now. Watermelon Slushie is also a bright drink which you can make with strawberries, or Watermelon Sorbet.
What is a Mojito
Pronounced ” Mo-Hee-To”, is a classic Cuban drink, classically made with rum, sugar cane juice, lime juice, soda water and mint. It’s tangy, slightly sweet and very fresh with a minty kick. The preparation involves crushing or bruising the mint and lime first, before adding the remaining ingredients.
So many variations on this classic drink have come, whether it’s a non alcoholic one like our Virgin Mojito or a fruity one like today’s Strawberry Mojito Recipe. The preparation is the same, you’ll bruise the fruit wit the mint and lime to extract maximum flavor, then you’ll add in the remaining ingredients.
What Does Mojito Taste Like?
Mojitos are an icy cold drink that are fizzy and taste like a mint and lime fizz. They’re not too sweet, so you do taste the tang.
Why You’ll LOVE Strawberry Mojito
- It’s bursting with strawberry flavor.
- Naturally sweeter than the classic Mojito.
- perfectly seasonal.
- Super refreshing with the lime tang and minty fizz.
- You can make a large pitcher to serve many people in just minutes!
- Tastes better as it sits.
Ingredients You’ll Need
- Strawberries. Sweet and seasonal strawberries are so sweet and juicy right now you can’t miss them! It’s best to dice them into half an inch pieces before adding them to the cups.
- Mint. Any type of mint works here so long as it’s fresh and abundant. This is our garden mint this year and we couldn’t be more ecstatic to use it.
- Lime. You’ll need lime slices to mull, and some lime juice as well. Plus keep some lime for garnish.
- Sweetener. Agave, honey, simple syrup or the classic cane sugar are perfect sweeteners. For today, I used honey.
- Soda Water. For fizz and to complete the Mojito recipe.
- White Rum. You can skip this entirely for a virgin mojito and add more of the soda water–which is what we did today.
- Ice. Perfect for the summer refreshing drink.
How to Make Strawberry Mojito
- If you’re making individual glasses or a large pitcher, you’ll be making the mojito recipe the exact same way.
- Start by adding the strawberries at the bottom of the cups or pitcher. To that you’ll add the sweetener that you’re using, the mint, a squirt of lime juice and lime slices.
- Now you’ll muddle the fruits, mint and lime using a wooden spoon. You want to make sure the strawberries release their juices, the lime as well and the mint has broken down. The flavors are just impeccably refreshing, you won’t believe it!
- Add in some ice for a refreshing cold drink, and now go in with your club soda.
- If you’re using rum, this is where you’ll be adding it (with or before the club soda). However we keep our drinks virgin, so club soda all the way to fill up the cup or pitcher.
- Give the mojito recipe a good mix and your drink is ready for garnish.
- Sliced strawberries, more fresh mint and more lime slices are the perfect garnish. Add more or less ice to your taste, and you’re all SET to ENJOY this!!
Mojito Recipe Tips
- Use seasonal and fresh fruit if you’re making a fruity Mojito recipe.
- Lime is the classical tangy taste of a mojito, however I’ve had orange and other citrus variations.
- When it comes to the sweetener, classically a simple syrup is the one to use. Even better, you can use flavored simple syrup like mint infused or a spicy jalapeno infused 🙂 I prefer the rich taste of honey, so we used that today.
- Make sure you muddle the ingredients well before adding the club soda. You cant to see the juices released from the strawberries and lime, and watch as the mint leaves break down. This is where the mojito taste comes from.
- As mentioned above, you can make this into a mocktail by simply skipping the rum and using club soda to fill up the glass.
How to Make a Mojito Pitcher?
You’re going to follow the exact steps above but multiply the ingredients by 3, 4, 5, 6, or even 10 depending on the size of your pitcher. Keep the ice in the serving glasses and not in the pitcher. Serve over ice in individual cups and enjoy 🙂
Make Ahead
This is such a convenient recipe to prepare in advance especially if you’re having company. Here’s how to make this drink even easier: Prepare the muddle step the day before and keep those muddled ingredients in an airtight container. The day of, you’ll be finishing the mojito by adding in the club soda and ice. Then you’ll just garnish and it’s good to go!
