Long Pin for BLACKBERRY MOJITO – A VIRGIN MOJITO RECIPE

Nothing like a refreshing Blackberry Mojito this summer! I’m going for a Virgin Mojito recipe so you can enjoy as much of it as your heart desires! A hint of lime, ginger, lots of blackberries and mint in an icy cup.

A hand holding a cup of blackberry mojitos

Seriously one of my favorite drinks! Cool, sweet, tangy, refreshing and super easy to make!

If you love Mojitos, you’ll need to try this recipe. While you can find mojitos anywhere in the world, this Cuban drink reminds me so much of the years I lived in Miami. Something about them takes me back!

I love making virgin mojitos or mojito mocktail because I don’t do alcohol (for many reasons). Also, in the summer I love making a huge mojito pitcher where kids and grown ups are welcome to refresh!

BLACKBERRY MOJITO

While Mojito classically is made out of just lime, mint, club soda and alcohol, the addition of blackberries is like the icing on the cake!

I love the tang that blackberries add which compliments the lime so perfectly. I also love the tiny bits of seeds which add texture to your drink.

However, I have a friend who dislikes that “texture” in her drink so I’ve tried this recipe with blueberries and it was just as delicious! So feel free to swap one for the other or use a combo!

Mojito Recipes

You’ll find plenty of mojitos recipes that use simple syrup. And for that reason probably, you’ll notice lots of bar tenders hate making mojitos. It feels like a lot of work!

I love making my mojito recipe without the simple syrup, and that’s another advantage of the virgin mojitos (more on that below). I make them in minutes and you’ll find step by step instructions and photos below.

Three different cups of blackberry mojitos with different garnishes, such as blackberries, mint and lime slices

VIRGIN MOJITO

A virgin Mojito is basically a mojito without any alcohol. So it’s safe to drink as much of it as your heart desires 🙂 But that’s not all what I love about it!

Why Virgin Mojito Recipe

  • You can drink as much of it as you need to quench your thirst!
  • If you’re entertaining and there’s anyone who can’t have alcohol, it’s a good idea to make a huge pitcher of virgin mojito and keep the alcohol on the side for those who want to add it on.
  • No simple syrup needed, because I sweeten my mojitos with ginger ale/lemon soda (diet or full sugar).
  • 5 minutes to prepare.
  • Super tasty–you won’t miss the alcohol.Three cups of prepared mojitos surrounded by ice and garnished with lime, mint and more blackberries

HOW TO MAKE A MOJITO

  • You’ll need to gather your ingredients and tools.
  • Mojito Ingredients: Blackberries, lime juice, lime slices, Mint leaves, Sugar, Diet Gingerale, Ice.A mortar and pestle with blackberries, lime, sugar and mint surrounded by more mint, lime slices and ice
  • Mojito Tools: Mortar and Pestle, Mojito pitcher, Serving cups.
  • In the bowl of the mortar and pestle, crush the blackberries, mint leaves, sugar and lime juice. The blackberries crushed into puree in the mortar and pestle
  • Divide this flavor packed mixture among your serving cups or your mojito pitcher. The blackberry, mint and lime mixture divided between three cups and ready for garnish and soda to be added
  • Add lime slices.A hand adding in lime slices and mint sprigs to the cups
  • Add fresh blackberries and ice cubes.
  • Pour Ginger ale or lemon soda or soda water over that. You can use diet for zero calorie and zero sugar drink here.Pouring in the ginger ale/ lemon soda mixture while holding the mojitos cups with another hand to finish off the virgin mojitos recipe
  • Garnish with more blackberries, a sprig of mint and ENJOY!

How easy was this?

Now here are some of my favorite Tips to make variations and make this ahead of time too.

The blackberry mojito is ready to go and a hand is about to pick it up now

BLACKBERRY MOJITO TIPS

  • Blackberries are the star of this Mojito version, so use them generously! They add flavor and texture.
  • If you want to substitute blackberries, use blueberries! They make the best swap. Also try using a combo of both!
  • Make sure you crush the blackberries well in the mortar and pestle so that it infuses into the soda drink, otherwise you won’t be able to taste it.
  • To sweeten your mojitos without the simple syrup, use ginger ale or lemon soda. And to make the drinks zero sugar–use diet drinks.
  • To make the drink ahead of time, prepare everything except leave the ice as the final step. Add it right before serving!
  • Drink as much of this Virgin Mojito Recipe as you can–it’s a non alcoholic version of a favorite cocktail to cool you off all summer long!

First of all, your photos are absolutely lovely. And I appreciated that you talked about why you love making virgin mojitos / cocktails. Whatever your reason is for not drinking alcohol, more power to you! The color of these cocktails are insanely beautiful. I personally don’t mind the blackberry seeds, so more for me haha.
