We have a thing for smoked salmon. Our ever so popular Smoked Salmon Platter says it ALL 💛 We also love a good Smoked Salmon Salad With Blue Cheese Dressing. And then there’s the one and only Salmon Tartare recipe you’ll ever need, along with our many Salmon Recipes.

This recipe makes a great party choice, and a favorite brunch/breakfast addition to your table. If you’ve tried any store bought version of smoked salmon dip, you’ll instantly notice the difference. Homemade is much more flavorful and it’s made with REAL smoked salmon.

Why You’ll Love this Smoked Salmon Dip

  • It’s clean tasting, made with fresh and real ingredients.
  • Delicious way to enjoy smoked salmon.
  • The smoked salmon dip is a breakfast/brunch and party favorite!
  • We love a side of our homemade Pita Chips , some cucumbers and apples to dip in.
  • You can use this recipe as a spread for your bagels. It’s the BEST! Something like this Breakfast Bagel.
  • The smoked salmon dip is a great make ahead option!
  • The recipe comes togther in 5 minutes using a food processor.
  • It’s a real Crowd Pleaser! Everyone, and i mean everyone has loved this recipe.

Ingredients You’ll Need

smoked salmon dip ingredients in a wooden board. a plate of smoked salmon, a bowl of cream cheese, some sour cream in a bowl mayonnaise in another bowl. capers in a small plate, green onions in a small plate, seasoning, some fresh dill in a bowl, and lemons cut into wedges and slices

  • Smoked Salmon. Use quality smoked salmon, fresh or frozen work great here.
  • Cream Cheese. The classic best friend to smoked salmon, and the main body of the dip.
  • Mayonnaise +Sour Cream. You can use either or, but we found the combo is the perfect balance of richness and tang.
  • Lemon Juice and Lemon Zest. The zest adds so much brightness and lemony taste without adding excessive liquid to our drip. The juice compliments the texture and flavor.
  • Fresh Dill. We love the combo of dill and smoked salmon, however you can use any fresh herb.
  • Capers. Nothing like capers, cream cheese and smoked salmon combined together in every bite, right?
  • Green onions. They add a sweet onions note without being over powering.
  • Seasoning. Salt and pepper essentially, but also chilli flakes are a must for us!

How to Make Smoked Salmon Dip
The process of making smoked salmon dip starts with cream cheese, sour cream and mayonnaise along with green onions and capers along with lemon zest and juice all added into a bowl of a food processor.

  1. First step to make smoked salmon dip is to take out your food processor. You’ll begin by adding the cream cheese, sour cream, mayo, green onions, capers, lemon zest and lemon juice.
  2. Process these ingredients together first before adding in the salmon and dill. The reason for that is because we LOVE a chunky salmon  dip.
The smoked salmon and dill added to the smooth cream cheese mixture in the food processor
  3. So now once the initial ingredients are smooth, you’ll add the smoked salmon, dill and chilli flakes. While the spice is optional, we highly recommend a pinch at least.

  4. Process the ingredients until you feel that you’ve reached the consistency you want. You can have this dip as smooth or as chunky as you like.
  5. Serve the dip in to a large bowl and surround it with your favorite dippers. We absolutely LOVE our homemade Pita Chips and they’re different than the ones used in our Labneh Dip. They’re both however CRAZY good!

  6. And just like that, your smoked salmon dip is ready to enjoy!
