Long Pin for Lasagna Roll Ups

These Lasagna Roll Ups make comfort food super easy and gourmet. Today I’m making these lasagna rolls ups in a mug for a romantic dinner for two.

two plates with lasagna roll ups in rosa sauce on it. A red rose flower around that and a simple salad

Today’s delicious recipe is sponsored by my friends at BabbleBoxx.com on behalf of Bertolli®.

What are your plans this Valentine’s Day? I always stay in because it’s a touch more special when you prepare a meal with love.

Today I’ll show you how easy it is to make a gourmet comforting meal for two that will lure you to stay in this year 🙂

A plate with lasagna rolls ups, a salad and a vase of roses

LASAGNA ROLL UPS

Lasagna roll ups are simply sheets of lasagna, stuffed and rolled. As simple as it sounds, it’s in fact so divine!

There are so many ways and things you can stuff your lasagna sheets with, however today we’re keeping it simple. As simple and probably as Italian as can be!

I’ve used a mixture of ricotta, Parmesan and basil pesto for the stuffing. If you’d like to add veggies, I would probably say sautéed spinach and mushrooms are your best bet.

Once the lasagna roll ups are stuffed, they’re rolled up and placed in a rosa sauce. Plus to add an extra layer of flavor, I topped them with the same rosa sauce. The sauce is PURE Tuscan love.

A box of Bertollli with two jars of sauces on top of it

ROSA SAUCE

There’s nothing like a good pasta sauce. Nothing. Not only because we love pasta. But because a good sauce adds plenty of flavor with zero effort!

I’ve used two Bertolli Sauces today. The Bertolli® Traditional Marinara with Italian Herbs and Fresh Garlic and the Bertolli® Alfredo With Aged Parmesan Cheese.

It’s like bringing a taste of Tuscany to my home. Out of all the pasta sauces, Bertolli is the only Tuscan sauce cooked lightly with olive oil creating layers of fresh flavor.

two jars of Bertolli sauces, one marinara sauce and one alfredo sauce opened up to show the inside

How to Make Rosa Sauce? Super Simple, you’ll need to mix two parts Bertolli® Traditional Marinara with Italian Herbs and Fresh Garlic to one part Bertolli® Alfredo With Aged Parmesan Cheese.

two plates ready to eat, two vases with roses, drinks and the perfect set up dinner for valentine's day

What I use Rosa Sauce for?

  • Lasagna Roll Ups —hello!
  • Pasta, cooked or baked
  • Chicken Parmesan
  • Seafood
  • Meatballs
  • Dips
  • Gourmet Pizzas
  • Veggie Casserole
  • Soups

Now all you need is to enter your zip code and get the Bertolli sauces.

two jars of bertolli sauces next to a bunch of roses

Let’s make the lasagna rolls ups step by step together.

LASAGNA ROLL UPS RECIPE

Start off by gathering your ingredients. Bertolli Sauces, Mozzarella cheese and cooked lasagna sheets (if using fresh lasagna, don’t cook the sheets).

a bowl with the filling ingredients: ricotta, basil pesto, parmesan cheese. surrounded by a bunch of roses

The filing is ricotta, parmesan cheese, basil pesto and seasoning. Mix all of that together in a bowl.

A teaspoon spreading the filling into the lasagna sheets

Use a teaspoon to spread the filling along the lasagna sheets.

A hand rolling the lasagna sheets into a tube

Roll Each sheet until it looks like a tube.

One lasagna roll up ready to go

Since we’re cooking for two this Valentine’s Day, I’ve cooked my lasagna roll ups in a mug.

A tray with two mugs, a bowl of cheese, the ready lasagna roll ups and the sauces

You can opt for a a deep oven safe casserole if you’re making this recipe for a crowd or potluck.

A hand Pouring in the marinara sauce at the bottom of the mug

The beginning of magic starts now, layer the bottom of the mug with the Bertolli Marinara sauce.

A hand pouring the alfredo sauces over the marinara sauce in the mug

Now add in the Alfredo Sauce to create the Rosa sauce.

A spoon swirling the sauces to make a rosa sauce

Use a spoon to swirl them together. YUM!

A hand sprinkling cheese at the bottom of the mug over the rosa sauce

Add the mozzarella cheese over the sauce, and don’t mix it in. The cheese acts a glue here to bind the lasagna and sauce.

Lasagna rolls ups being stacked in the mug over the rosa sauce and cheese

Add the lasagna rolls over the rosa sauce. For a large soup mug like mine, I use three roll ups per mug.

More marinara sauce and alfredo are put over the lasagna

Top the rolls with another layer of Marinara sauce and Alfredo sauce.

A hand covering the mugs with foil before baking

Cover the mugs with foil and off to baking they go.

A hand holding a plate over the mug ready to flip

Once they’re out of the oven, you’ll need to flip them. The best way to do that is to remove the foil and place a plate over the top of the mug.

A hand sprinkling fresh basil over the lasagna for garnish

Then flip/invert the mug on to a plate. Watch as the rosa sauce flows beautifully!

A finished lasagna roll ups plate with salad on the side

Garnish the lasagna roll ups with chopped fresh garlic and shredded Parmesan cheese.

I love serving these with a side of green or a simple salad. YUM.

A hand using fork and knife to cut the lasagna roll ups

LASAGNA TIPS

A hand holding a fork showing the cut off lasagna

-Use Fresh Lasagna sheets for a shortcut, otherwise, cook the lasagna sheets ahead of time. You can cook it up to two days in advance.

-Use quality sauces such as Bertolli for quality tasting lasagna. This recipe is all about the sauce.

-If you want to make this recipe a spinach lasagna roll up, add 1/2 cup of sauteed/steamed fresh spinach to the filling.

-If you want to make this recipe for a crowd, use a deep oven safe dish and arrange the lasagna rolls as per the recipe. However if you feel flipping a large dish may be overwhelming (which it is!), then don’t flip it. To do so, avoid the layer of cheese at the bottom of the dish and proceed with the recipe. Once the lasagna is ready, remove the foil, sprinkle a layer of cheese and place the lasagna back in the oven for just 10 minutes. Serve in the dish itself.

-This recipe makes a great potluck dish!

Rosa Sauce

  • 1/3 cup Parmesan Cheese
  • 2 teaspoons basil pesto
  • pinch of salt and pepper

Lasagna Roll Ups:

  • 6 sheets of fresh lasagna or cooked dry lasagna
  • 1 cup Mozzarella cheese shredded

Garnish

  • 2 Tablespoons Fresh basil chopped
  • 2 Tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Make the filling by mixing all ingredients in a bowl.
  3. Take a teaspoon and spread the filling over the lasagna sheets, you’ll need about 2 tablespoons of filling per sheet.
  4. Roll the sheets, one at a time into a tube.
  5. In an oven safe soup mug or any deep dish oven plate place the rose sauce at the bottom. You’ll need about 3/4 cup of sauce at the bottom. Use more or less to your taste depending on how saucy you like your lasagna.
  6. Add a layer of mozzarella cheese over the sauce and don’t blend it in.
  7. Now take three rolled up lasagna sheets per mug and place them over the cheese, pressing down.

  12. Enjoy! 🙂

MAHY, this! I NEED THIS! These roll-ups look amazing and I love that they come in individual ramekins. I feel that way I get much more cheese and sauce than with a big casserole serving! Will try this asap!
