Imagine another Burrata Recipe–like we can’t get enough of Burrata! And another Caprese recipe–because we absolutely LOVE everything Caprese! Well, this Burrata Caprese is seriously the best of both worlds, it’s incomparable to any 🙂

Here are the best Burrata Recipes:

  • Burrata Pizza
  • Peach Burrata Salad
  • Burrata Salad
  • Burrata Pasta
  • Burrata Cheese

And Caprese Recipes:

  • Caprese Pizza
  • Chicken Caprese
  • Caprese Skewers
  • Caprese Salad
  • Strawberry Caprese Salad

Today’s recipe is simple as can be, easy can be, yet tasty as can be!

Burrata Caprese

Don’t think of this as another salad recipe, it’s rather a show stopping plate! A perfect starter or appetizer to any meal, or a luscious side dish. It’s one of those recipes you can easily customize with seasonal fruits, or different salad dressings so it can be made endlessly!

I’m making it today with the classic Caprese flavors and a simple balsamic dressing similar to the one I used in the Burrata Salad or a basic balsamic olive oil mix like with those Caprese Skewers.

Burrata Caprese Ingredients

ingredients for burrata caprese including a plate of burrata cheese, a plate of garlic croutons, a bowl of cherry tomatoes cut in half, lots of fresh basil leaves, a bottle of olive oil

  • Tomatoes : I used baby tomatoes cut in half. Any type of tomatoes work.
  • Basil : Lots and lots of it! If you’re unable to find fresh basil, try my crowd pleasing Basil Pesto.
  • Croutons : I love homemade croutons.
  • Olive oil : Use quality olive oil, I love Mina Moroccan olive oil.
  • Seasoning : Salt, Pepper, Chilli flakes (optional)
  • Balsamic : I use a balsamic syrup as it’s sweeter and compliments the tomatoes so well.
  • Burrata Cheese : The star of today’s Burrata caprese! You can read all about Burrata cheese and get to know all about it in those posts.

What is burrata and how do you eat it?

Burrata is a fresh soft cheese from Italy. It comes in a round shape with a fresh mozzarella shell and a creamy curd interior. When you break open that mozzarella shell, the creamy curd comes oozing out. You can eat it as it is, or with  Pasta, in a Salad,  Pizza, and so much more!

How to Make Burrata Caprese

tomatoes scattered on a plate to make caprese with burrata

First of all, arrange the tomatoes and basil in a large plate. A flat style plate is much better than a salad bowl for this recipe. You can use peaches if seasonal, watermelon, apples, strawberries and much more!

Now add in your croutons, or chunks of Garlic Bread, the Burrata cheese and spread them evenly on the plate.

Season your salad: salt and pepper of course, and I love adding a bit of chilli flakes. That’s optional of course. Then drizzle your favorite brand of balsamic syrup and a good amount of quality olive oil. I Love using Mina olive oil. It’s Moroccan single sourced olive oil that’s loaded with antioxidants and tastes phenomenal!

Some of my favorite Olive Oil Recipes include: Olive Oil Cake, Spaghetti aglio e olio ( Olive oil Pasta), Labneh Dip with Zaatar Pistachio Mint Olive Topping, Tuna Salad Recipe with Olive Oil Dressing, Chimichurri Recipe, Whipped Feta and more!

And there you have it! The absolute best salad you’ll ever make–Burrata Caprese! Answering some questions below:

Why is it called Caprese?

The caprese salad  is one of Italy’s staple and it’s named after the island of Capri. Caprese comes in many forms, you can have  Caprese Pizza which combines the same flavors of the salad. Also Chicken Caprese is a succulent delicious chicken dinner that you will ENJOY more than you think! Caprese Skewers is like having bite size flavors of Caprese on a stick.

Is burrata cheese similar to mozzarella?

Burrata cheese is in fact a round of mozzarella cheese, but with a cream curd interior. So imagine a ball of fresh mozzarella cheese that cuts open and the inside is a creamy curd that oozes out. It’s much tastier than mozzarella and you’ll notice the different  textures and taste when you try burrata!

What is the best way to serve burrata

You can serve burrata so many ways, just over your garlic bread, salads, pizzas, pastas, roast veggies and more! Here are some of our favorite ways to enjoy it:

  • burrata cheese
  • Peach Burrata Salad
  • Burrata Pizza
  • Burrata Salad
  • Burrata Pasta

Do you eat the skin of burrata?

Yes! Absolutely! It’s made out of fresh mozzarella so it’s tasty, stringy and so good!

Do you serve burrata warm or cold?

It’s best served at room temperature so you can fully enjoy the taste and textures of this gorgeous cheese. I love to keep it at room temperature 30 mins before serving. My other favorite way is to serve it over a hot dish like Burrata Pasta and watch as the cheese gently starts to soften up into the hot pasta. SO GOOD!
