Long Pin for Burrata Salad

This Burrata Salad is one of our favorite Burrata recipes of all time! It’s so crisp, refreshing and the burrata cheese adds the final divine touch and creamy texture to the humble salad! No matter how busy you are, you can whip up a burrata salad recipe like this and feel like you’re at a fancy resto! I made a quick video below to see how fun this recipes comes together.

Have you had Burrata Cheese before? We absolutely can’t get enough of it! I love it on salads all summer long, and so I’m sharing today’s burrata salad recipe. But it’s perfect on pasta like I shared in this Burrata Pasta, and it’s great on Pizza too!! It even makes a phenomenal Burrata Caprese.

If you’re new to Burrata Cheese, please read that post where we explain everything about what is burrata cheese, how to eat burrata cheese and so much more! In brief, it’s a ball of fresh mozzarella with a creamy filling of cream and curd. An out of this world combo!

There are so many ways to use Burrata, so today it’s about summer fresh salads!

Burrata Salad

Since Burrata cheese is ideally not for melting or cooking, the salad recipe benefits the most from Burrata Cheeese. This recipe is very forgiving and so easily personalized to your taste. Depending on seasonality, I often swap between this burrata salad recipe and Peach Burrata Salad.

The combo of fresh crisp salad ingredients with the creamy burrata on top makes this a life changing salad recipe!! Burrata salad recipes are usually quite filing and nutritious so depending on your diet, you can make it a main dish. At the same time, this recipe makes a great side dish to any BBQ or main.

Burrata Salad Ingredients

burrata salad ingredients including a plate of burrata cheese, some fresh thyme, and basil. diced shallots, green olives, arugula, fresh figs, radishes, a bowl of croutons

  • Burrata Cheese— Our hero ingredient here! Make sure you buy fresh and always check the best before date with Burrata Cheese as it doesn’t last too long.

A plate pf burrata cheese ball

  • Olive Oil — I love quality Moroccan olive oil like Mina (single sourced, delicious and traceable)

A bottle of good olive oil to drizzle over the burrata salad recipe

  • Fresh Figs –sweet and fruity! Peaches are a great alternative for a Peach Burrata Salad! Tomatoes too!
  • Radishes — great crunch and taste
  • Greens— you can use your favorite greens, I used arugula only.

a bowl of homemade crotons

  • Croutons — I use my recipe from the Caprese Salad recipe.
  • Fresh herbs — such as basil mixed in the greens
  • Olives –Any type works black or green, I used green Moroccan olives.

Make Burrata Salad Recipe

a salad plate with arugula and fresh basil and then a hand pouring in a little bit of dressing to flavor the greens

The very first step and layer to the burrata salad is the greens. I used arugula which I mixed with some fresh herbs such as basil and thyme. You can use salad greens or lettuce or even just fresh basil if you have an abundance of it growing in your garden!

A small drizzle of the balsamic dressing over the greens is KEY to a tasty salad! This step flavors the greens which are the base and bottom layer of any salad and often missing flavor. More on the dressing below.

A hand adding the fresh figs over the greens

Right over the greens, you’ll add in the fruits. I used fresh figs today since I found some juicy, ripe and delicious figs at the store. Peaches would work great, or just some sweet tomatoes.

Remaining burrata salad ingredients are added to the salad plate including radishes, croutons, olives

At this point you’ll add in your favorite remaining salad ingredients. I added croutons because they’re hearty and crunchy–which I love in my salads! I also added radishes and green olives. Both those Mediterranean ingredients go really well with Burrata!

a hand holding a ball of burrata cheese ready to place it overt the salad

The icing on the cake–it’s time to place your ball of fresh burrata cheese over the salad. It’s usually served who or cut up into chunks as you’ll see below and in the video. Choose your favorite way to serve this and go ahead!

A hand pouring the balsamic salad dressing over the burrata cheese salad

Finish off with the sweet dressing and your burrata salad recipe is ready! Dressing recipe below.

Burrata Salad Dressing

a small pouring jar next a small bowls of salad dressing ingredients including olive oil, shallots, fresh herbs, balsamic syrup and salt

You’ll need a saucer or a bowl, a whisk and those ingredients:

  • Quality Moroccan Olive oil
  • fresh herbs (basil and thyme )
  • Shallots minced
  • Balsamic glaze or balsamic vinegar
  • salt

a spoon holding showing the mixed in salad dressing and showing the final look of it mixed in a bowl

Mixed together in a small bowl and you got a sweet, tasty, fresh and AMAZING balsamic dressing that goes well with so many salads!

Serve Burrata Salad

Your recipe is not ready to serve! You can have the salad as is with the ball of burrata cheese on top, or you can use a knofe and cut the cheese into four quarters like below.

A hand holding a knife and cutting the burrata cheese on the salad

When cutting burrata cheese, you need to use a really sharp knife and be super careful. The cheese ball exterior is firm, however the inside of the cheese is a blend of cream and curd, so it will start oozing as you cut through the cheese.

And there you have it! Perfect Burrata Cheese Salad –ENJOY!!

Burrata Salad Tips & Variations

  • Make sure you buy fresh burrata cheese, always look for the expiry date and manufacturing date.
  • Burrata Cheese comes in a smaller mini size too which is called Burratini, you may use the smaller one if you’re just new to the taste. Alternatively you can use two burratini’s.
  • It’s best to serve the salad and burrata cheese cold so make sure your ingredients are ready for assembly.
  • The dressing can be made and stores in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
  • If making ahead of time, make sure no to dress or cut up the burrata cheese so that it doesn’t leak the cream and makes a soggy salad.
  • Once cut up, it’s best to serve the salad recipe right away!
