Our absolute favorite dip to make with those chicken wings is our popular Blue Cheese Dressing which you can turn into a dressing or dip by adjusting the consistency!

Don’t forget to check out this Wedge Salad which pairs so beautifully with the wings and dressed up with Blue Cheese Dressing! Now let’s get on to the recipe!

Why Grilled Chicken Wings

A plate of chicken wings, half with a BBQ sauce and the other half with hot sauce served on a plate with a blue cheese dip on the side and some lemon wedges

Grilled chicken wings are the perfect BBQ for the Fourth of July! Perfect as a snack if you want something healthy to eat, as a starter to get your appetite going.

They’re a great food if your entertaining guests as they tend to be pretty popular so you can’t really go wrong with serving grilled chicken wings.

Grilling is also the perfect way to cook your chicken wings all summer as it’s a super-easy way of cooking them as well as being a really healthy option. You can also easily add your favorite sauces here so you can make them exactly how you like them. In this recipe, I will be using two of the most popular sauces: BBQ and Hot Sauce.

Ingredients for Grilled Chicken wings

Cleaned and trimmed chicken wings in a bowl

  • Chicken Wings. Cleaned and trimmed and patted dry.

Spice blend for the grilled chicken wings including garlic powder, salt , pepper and oregano

Spice Blend. This is the initial flavor that you’ll add to the chicken wings before grilling, so it’s like a base flavor only. The final flavor is added on after they’re  fully cooked.

We have Salt, Pepper, garlic powder, oregano and olive oil, butter.

How to Grill Chicken Wings

Firstly make sure your chicken wings are as dry as possible. You can get rid of any moisture by patting them dry with a paper towel.

  1. Then it’s time to add the seasonings to give your chicken wings some great flavor. Use a bowl and add al ingredients together.
  2. Finally, add a good helping of oil over all your chicken wings and toss everything together so they’re evenly coated.
  3. It’s important to add oil to your wings so that you can get crispy crust. Without oil or another saturated fat, your wings won’t crisp up nicely.
  4. Now you’ve seasoned your wings it’s time to get them on the grill.
  5. Have your grill heated up to a hot heat of about 425 degrees F before starting to cook your chicken wings.Chicken wings right on the grill
  6. When you are sure your grill is ready, place your chicken wings evenly on the grill grates and leave to grill.
  7. To prevent any burning and to keep them nice and crispy as well as evenly cooked,  keep flipping the chicken wings every 3-4 minutes or so.
  8. Now prepare your sauces. Hot Sauce recipe is at Air Fryer Chicken Wings  post. The sauce will add the final flavor to the meat.

     Chicken Wings Sauces

We are going to use two sauces for this recipe so that you have a good variety of flavors in this dish.

The first is bbq sauce. All you need to do is make sure you have your favorite brand of BBQ sauce on hand and place it in a bowl.

To make your hot buffalo sauce marinade, follow the steps as I showed it in the Air Fryer Chicken Wings article. It’s the BEST hot sauce for wings EVER!

Serving your grilled chicken wings recipe

Once your sauces are prepared and your chicken grilled, you need to divide your wings into two separate bowls.
