If you have never made air fryer fish before you are in for a treat. This appliance provides the perfect way to cook crispy fish. I used this air fryer fish recipe recently and decided to make some fish tacos with video for you!.

Today’s delicious post is in partnership with my friends at Sealand Quality Foods. They deliver premium seafood and meats right to your door!

Some other delicious fish recipes you’ll find using Sealand are Mahi Mahi Recipe and Fish Fry! Plus a quick weeknight dinner recipe: Asian Beef Tips with Rice.

WHY AIR FRYER FISH

Cooking fish with the air fryer results in a crispy exterior and a nice flaky, perfectly cooked meat. I choose to coat it today with panko bread crumbs, however, you can just as well cook it without the coating.

Two other fabulous recipes to make in your air fryer: Air Fryer Chicken Legs  and Air Fryer Lamb Chops with Poblano Sauce.

How to Cook Frozen Fish in the Air fryer?

I made my air fryer fish recipe with frozen fish. The first step is to thaw your fish thoroughly and then pat it dry to remove excess moisture.

The fish I used today was pickerel fillets from Sealand Quality Foods. Make sure to remove the packaging before defrosting the fish.

Cooking from frozen is not really a good idea so make sure you plan ahead to get the fish thawed.

How long to cook fish in Air fryer?

You will need to cook the fish for a total of 12 minutes. It cooks on the first side for 8 minutes and then gets flipped and cooked for an additional 4 minutes. Overcooking the pickerel will result in dry and flavorless fish so I do not recommend it.

Make Air Fryer Fish Recipe

Our air fryer fish is super easy to make!

I used Pickerel Fish, but you can make this recipe with your favorite type of fish and it will turn out perfect.

pickerel fillets on a cutting board thawing.

I got my pickerel from Sealand Quality Foods. Sealand Quality Foods is my favorite supplier of premium frozen seafood and meats delivered right to my door.

I love the convenience of that! This recipe is for two pieces of fish, but you can double or triple the recipe if you need to cook more than two fillets.

Panko bread crumbs

You’ll need a bowl of Panko bread crumbs which I’ve spiced up with chili powder, salt, pepper, and oregano.

In another bowl, you’ll make a mix of mayo, lemon juice, and spices.

Fish Coating Mixture with a pastry brush.

The spices I used are chili powder, garlic powder, pepper, oregano, and salt.

one fillet in Panko bread crumbs.

The mayo mixture acts here as a glue for the bread crumbs to stick on the fish. It also flavors the fish tremendously!

Once crispy and ready, you can enjoy them as is with salad, bread, fries, or make some tacos!

Assemble Air Fryer Fish Tacos

Once your fish is cooked, you can flake it apart with a fork and make amazing fish tacos!

To make the tacos, first, you will need to char some tortillas.

ingredients for air fryer fish and to make air fryer fish tacos including tortillas charred, the ready fish, some chopped avocados, chipotle sauce, salsa, fresh cilantro and lime

Next, drizzle some chipotle sauce and add chopped cilantro, chopped tomatoes, and avocados.

Finally, layer the fish over that and top with extra sauce, salsa, and the fresh toppings of your choice.

Enjoy!!

TIPS FOR AIR FRYER FISH SUCCESS

  1. Start with quality fish such as pickerel fillets from Sealand quality foods.
  2. Make sure your fish fillet is defrosted
  3. Flavor the bread crumbs with spice for a nice flavorful crispy crust.
  4. The mayo mixture flavors the fish and you can flavor it endlessly! Think of fresh garlic, orange juice or zest, shallots, spices, ginger, herbs, cheeses, and so much more!
  5. Use a pastry brush to brush the mayo mixture over the fish and dip the coated fish into the panko right away to coat.
  6. Before placing the fish in the air fryer make sure to drizzle it lightly with oil. This helps the crust become extra crunchy and golden in color.
  7. Most air fryers require you to flip the fish halfway or a little over halfway, so set your timer for that.
  8. Enjoy the ready fish with salad, fries or make the tacos!
