Buffalo Chicken Wrap Ingredients
- Chicken Breast. Ideal for this recipe, however you can use store-bought rotisserie.
- Hot Sauce. Frank’s hot sauce or your favorite spicy tangy one.
- Melted Butter. This adds juiciness to the chicken and a buttery taste to cut back on the string hot sauce.
- Salt and Pepper. To season the sauce.
- Garlic Powder. It flavors the buffalo sauce
- Brown Sugar. Sweetens the buffalo sauce
- Chilli Powder. This is optional for extra spice.
- Paprika. Flavors the sauce.
- Fresh thyme (optional). This adds a bright fresh taste to the sauce.
How to Make Buffalo Chicken Wrap
- Use a scissors or knife to slice your chicken breasts into strips. It’s best to have them cut into strips as they cook with the sauce and if you cut them down, they will release extra liquid into the pan.
- Make the buffalo sauce: Add the melted butter, garlic powder, paprika, chilli powder, salt and pepper to the bowl of hot sauce and mix well. Then add in the chicken strips and allow them to absorb the flavors for at least 15 minutes before proceeding. The chicken can sit in this mixture for up to 4 hours.
- Heat up a heavy cooking skillet like a cast iron, you don’t need to add oil or butter or anything to it. Pour the chicken and hot sauce all together in to that hot skillet and cook over high heat tossing until the chicken is cooked.
- After 5-7 minutes of cooking, the chicken will turn opaque and the buffalo sauce will cook down enough to just coat the chicken. At this point the chicken is ready.
- Have your blue cheese dressing ready, preferably ahead of time. I almost have a jar of this in my fridge as we use it endlessly!
- Gather all your buffalo chicken wrap toppings and ingredients on a bowl so you can start assembling the wrap. We LOVE chopped celery, sliced avocados, cut up lettuce, shredded cheese, shredded carrots, green onions and of course flour tortillas.
Assemble the Buffalo Chicken Wrap
- Start by spreading the Blue Cheese Dressing at the bottom of a flour tortilla.
- Notice how the dressing and toppings are along the center of the tortilla, this helps tremendously with wrapping it later. So start piling your toppings along the middle and over the sauce. Start with the lettuce, shredded carrots and green onions.
- Continue with the toppings piling them along the middle, leaving the chicken and avocado last.
- Time for the chicken. Add the chicken and sauce–make sure you include the saucy Buffalo goodness that was in the skillet when cooking the chicken! it’s SO GOOD!!!
- A final layer of sliced avocados completes the toppings. Now your wrap is ready to be folded.
How to Fold a Wrap
Here’s a step by step tutorial on folding perfect wraps, and for reference make sure to also watch the video above.
- The first step is to take the side closer to you and fold it gently to cover most of the filling.
- You’ll then hold off one side of the tortilla while keeping the first fold in tact, and fold the side over the center. Make sure to press with your fingers at the junctions to keep the filling intact and encompassed inside the folds you create.
- Repeat the side fold with the other side. You should have both sides folded as shown above so that the filling is fully covered between the sides.
- Once both sides are secured using your fingers and intact, you’ll gently continue folding the wrap in a slow rolling motion. Try to be slow as you roll to keep the filling intact and the fold as tight as possible. You need to have a grip as you fold.
- Continue rolling until all the tortilla is rolled finally. You should have a tight wrap where the filling is intact and tightly wrapped in the tortilla.
- For reference, we’re showing above how the wrap looks on the other side. You can see where the edges meet and how the seem feels like it’s compact and tightly wrapped. So this easy tutorial is how you fold a wrap! 🙂
Slice and ENJOY!

The beauty of buffalo sauce is the mellow buttery taste which comes from the melted butter that cuts down the spice along with some brown sugar. So overall it’s not too spicy, it is quite balanced.
