Buffalo Chicken Wrap is made up of buttery spicy juicy Buffalo chicken layered over veggies and cheese. The spread we LOVE with this recipe is our popular Blue Cheese Dressing in a tortilla wrap that's so easy, tasty and filling! Sharing step by step to make this recipe (with video) and tutorial on how to fold a wrap!
Start by preparing the chicken. Use a scissors or knife, slice the chicken breast into strips that are about 2-3 inches long and half to 1 inch wide.
In a large bowl add all the Buffalo ingredients and whisk well, add in the chicken strips and let them marinate for 15 minutes and upto 4 hours.
Heat a heavy duty large skillet over medium high heat, and when the pan is hot, add in the chicken with sauce all at once.
Toss and mix the chicken for about 8-10 minutes until the chicken is opaque and cooked through. You'll notice some of the sauce has evaporated but not all. You need the buffalo chicken to remain saucy. Set aside to cool
Prepare the remaining ingredients to assemble the wrap.
To assemble the wrap, start by layering the blue cheese sauce along the center of the tortilla.
add the topping ingredients one at a time layering over the blue cheese spread along the middle of the tortilla. So start with the lettuce.
Continue with carrots, celery and green onions.
Now add a generous layer of the cooked buffalo chicken.
Finish off the wrap with a final layer of the sliced avocados.
To fold the wrap perfectly, begin by folding over the side of the tortilla closest to you to cover the filling.
Then take one side and fold it over using your fingers to seal in the ingredients.
Repeat with the other side while still holding on with your fingers to the opposite side of the tortilla.
once you have both sides secured with your fingers and feel you have a tight grip, finish off the fold by rolling the wrap to a complete roll.
You should have a seem at the bottom that looks like a tight seal with all edges sealed in. At that point the wrap is ready
You can slice in half or enjoy as is.
Enjoy
The star is the chicken cooked in buffalo sauce. Other toppings are personal to your taste but we include celery, avocado, cheese, lettuce, green onions and carrots in a flour tortilla.
The beauty of buffalo sauce is the mellow buttery taste which comes from the melted butter that cuts down the spice along with some brown sugar. So overall it's not too spicy, it is quite balanced. If you are however on the look for something spicy, I can't recommend the Hot Honey Recipe enough!! And of course my grandpa's viral Hot Pepper Sauce.
As mentioned earlier, we love them BOTH cold and hot. Depends on the occasion, they are actually delicious eitherway!
While it is made of hot sauce, addition of melted butter and spices transforms the sauce into something else!
It's a blend of butter, tang, salty, spicy and sweet
