  4. Sear the burgers for about 5 minutes and flip them. Sear for an extra 5-7 minutes ( you might end up searing for 7 minutes per side if you prefer a thick burger) until the burgers are just cooked.
  5. Lower the heat to medium-low and divide the sautéed mushrooms on top of the burgers. Then place a slice ( or more) of swiss cheese over them.

Recipe Notes

MUSHROOM SWISS BURGER TIPS

  • Lean ground beef is always better than extra lean because burgers can accommodate some fat, however go with what suits you the most.
  • Season the ground beef with dried spice only, avoid chunks of herbs, garlic or onions, or any veggies in the meat.
  • Shape the burger patties using your hand or a burger maker for easier more uniform burgers.
  • Toast the brioche buns for another level of crunch and flavor.
  • Use the same skillet for the whole recipe.
  • Pick your favorite mushrooms to use here and slice them to the same thickness.
  • Make sure not to overcook your burgers, so just about 3-5 minutes per side. However if you're cooking a really thick burger, you may need to cover the skillet after flipping and cook the burgers covered.
  • While one slice of Swiss cheese is enough, cheese lovers should probably use at least 2, if not 3 slices.
  • Add the mushrooms and cheese as the final step once all the burgers have cooked, and turn off the heat.
  • make sure to cover the skillet or tent the burgers with foil if your skillet doesn't have a lid. This allows the cheese to melt.
  • Spread your favorite condiments and use your favorite toppings on the burger buns.
  • Enjoy right away!
