Ingredients

Lobster Filling

  • 1 lobster tail cooked
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/3 cup red onion diced
  • 1/4 cup diced celery stalks
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon each salt and pepper kosher salt is best. add more or less to taste
  • 2 Tablepsoon parsley minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon chilli flakes optional

Lobster Roll Buns

  • 4 bread buns New England style buns are best, or any hot dog buns
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. Start by slicing up your cooked lobster on a cooking board and cut up into one inch size chunks. You can cut the lobster meat smaller or bigger if you like, however I find that one inch makes the lobster taste and texture stand out the most.

  2. Prepare the remaining ingredients for the lobster filling.

  3. Mix the lobster meat and filling ingredients in a large bowl.

  4. Now prepare the buns. Melt the butter in a heavy duty skillet over medium heat.

  5. Add in the bread buns and toast for 2 minutes before flipping.

  6. Flip the golden toasted buns and toast the other side for another two minutes.

  7. Stuff the buns with the lobster mixture.

  8. Serve with some chips, cucumbers, carrots if you like.

  9. Enjoy!

Tips for Homemade Lobster Rolls

There’s always a first-time trying out a new recipe. Which means that you might mess up a bit. However, with these tips for homemade lobster rolls, you can whip up finger-licking lobster roll even on your first try!

  1. When cooking lobster meat, follow my video and post on How To Cook Lobster Tail for succulent and tasty lobster meat. If you prefer boiling lobster, make sure to place the lobster in salted boiling water for not more than 8 minutes.
  2. I recommend using fresh lobster; however, you can use frozen lobster also. But make sure to thaw it completely before cooking.
  3. A combination of lobster meat from tails and claws works best for lobster rolls.
  4. Try using split-top England-style buns, but regular hot dog buns also work just fine.
  5. If you’re a fan of spices, add some hot sauce to the lobster filling.
  6. Don’t use more mayonnaise than recommended as it will overpower the sweet taste of lobster meat.
  7. The best kind of lobster for authentic lobster rolls is Maine lobster. But if it’s not available, you can go for rock lobster also.
